Eating Disorder
Definition:
Behavioral
conditions characterized by severe and persistent disturbance in eating
behaviors and associated distressing thoughts and emotions.
There are
several types of eating disorder, which are:
1. Anorexia Nervosa
2. Bulimia Nervosa
3. Binge Eating Disorder
4. Pica
5. Rumination Disorder
6. Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
7. Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED)
8. Unspecified Feeding or Eating Disorder
Symptoms:
1. Extreme mood swings
2. Eating alone or hiding food
3. Severe constipation
Causes:
1. Biological
factors: Some people may have genetic changes that put them at risk for
anorexia
2.
Psychological factors: People with these psychological conditions (depression
and OCD) may have a higher risk of developing eating disorder
3.
Environmental factors: Social experiences and cultural expectations may play a
role in eating disorder
Complications:
1. Anemia
2. Heart failure
3. Osteoporosis
