Agoraphobia
Definition:
A fear of being in
situations where escape might be difficult or that help wouldn't be available
if things go wrong.
Symptoms:
1. Fear of leaving home
alone
2. Fear of crowds or
waiting in line
3. Fear of closed spaces, such as movie theaters,
elevators, or small shops
Causes:
1. Experiencing stressful
life events, such as abuse, the death of a parent or being attacked
2. Family history of
agoraphobia
3. Having an anxious or
nervous temperament
Complications:
1. Depression
2. Alcohol or drug abuse
3. Disrupt social life
Treatments:
1. Psychotherapy
2. Counseling
3. Medication
4. Hypnosis and neuro
