 Definition:

Phobia is an excessive and irrational fear reaction. If you have a phobia, you may experience a deep sense of dread or panic when you encounter the source of your fear. The fear can be of a certain place, situation, or object.

Symptoms:

1. Feeling unsteady, dizzy, lightheaded or faint.

2. A pounding heart, palpitations or accelerated heart rate.

3. Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea.


Causes:

1. Past incidents or trauma.

2. Learned responses from early life childhood experiences.

3. Reactions and responses to panic or fear. 


Complications:

1. Social isolation: Avoiding places and things that cause you fear.

2. End up having mood disorders like depression or other anxiety disorders.

3. Substance abuse.


Treatments:

1. Counselling

2. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

3. Hypnosis
